Wine Network News 01-Nov-17 - Nov 1, 2017

Hi

It has been reported that the 2017 vintage globally is the smallest wine vintage since 1961 due to a reduced grape harvests in Italy, France and Spain.  An estimated reduction of 8.2%, equivalent to about 3 billion bottles or 246.7 million hectolitres is the shortfall.

To keep it in perspective, New Zealand accounts for about 1 per cent of the worlds wine production in volume.  For a country that only produces 1 per cent, we have a huge reputation and achieve incredible media coverage, not to mention still maintain an excellent dollar per litre ratio return.
