Latest from Wine Network - Aug 6, 2013

Hi

The world trade in wine has gone up since 2000, although it went down slightly in 2012.  But in real terms it seems that the value of the wine has gone down.  Winemakers get less money today than in 2000.

France is the biggest exporter in value and Italy in volume.  In 2012 New Zealand was ranked 8th in value and 11th in volume.  Also in 2012, New Zealand (4.36 euro /L) was ranked 2nd with the highest average price per litre behind France (5.23 euro /L), but ahead of USA, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Australia.  Australia's price was 2.07 euro /L.

Demand for New Zealand wine continues and with this we have new listings of cloudy and finished wines on the website.  Prices and reductions are noted alongside listings.
